CBS rejects pro-flag, anti-Kaepernick ‘Just Stand’ Super Bowl ad

A veteran-owned apparel company’s pro-flag Super Bowl TV ad that punches back at Nike's promotion of Colin Kaepernick and his national anthem protests has been rejected by CBS. According to the firm, Nine Line Apparel,CBS was apparently not satisfied the firm could pay for the 45-second ad, despite having annual revenues of $25 million. Jackie Robinson: A Legacy of Activism

Jackie Robinson: A Legacy of Activism Before there was Rosa Parks, there was Jackie Robinson. On July 6, 1944, Robinson—a 25-year army lieutenant—boarded a military bus at Fort Hood, Texas with the light-skinned wife of another black officer and sat down next to her in the middle of the vehicle. “Hey you, sittin’ beside that woman,” the driver yelled. “Get to the back of the bus.” Robinson refused, knowing that buses had been officially desegregated on military bases. When the driver threatened to have him arrested, Robinson shook his finger in the driver’s face and told him, “quit fucking with me.” Two military policemen soon arrived and escorted Robinson away.  "Not much has changed. Im sure Jackie would be proud." -jonathan donnell riley Full Article https://prospect.org/article/jackie-robinson-legacy-activism

Amber Guyger's new look is no accident, say attorneys skilled in remakin...

Former police officer Amber Guyger had a new look in court Tuesday in Dallas — and that was no accident, legal experts say. Guyger, 30, struck a softer appearance than she did earlier this month for her second courthouse visit since being indicted on a murder charge in the death of Botham Jean.  A change in body language and clothes is common for defendants trying to win over a judge and jury, legal experts say. "Every time she is appearing at the courthouse, the public and, ultimately, her jury is looking at her," said George Milner III, a local defense attorney. "A defense attorney would make every effort to have their client present to the media a look that is consistent with innocence." #KUTOSHA

Portland Sergeant: ‘If You Come Across a Black Person, Just Shoot Them’

Portland Sergeant: ‘If You Come Across a Black Person, Just Shoot Them’ According to one account, Lewis told officers to “be smart” about who they removed from inside parking garages for being intoxicated. Lewis, according to this officer, said, “If you come across a guy in a suit and tie that came downtown and had a little too much to drink…he’s probably not the guy you want to detox straight out of the garage. He will most likely sue you. If it’s a homeless guy, you will probably be safe. I doubt he‘s going to sue you.” Around this time at the roll call, someone mentioned the shooting of Hayes by Officer Andrew Hearst. The person voiced dismay about comments posted online in reaction to an Oregonian/OregonLive article. The commenter contended officers shoot to kill black people but only wound white people. “Officers began talking about this statement, and then I heard Sergeant Lewis state, ‘Well, let’s just go out and kill all the black people,’” according to the letter
