Why The 'Race Card' Is Played

  When 25-year-old Norma Nimox was dropped off at her apartment in Lincoln, NE last Saturday afternoon, she found herself in the makings of a real-life horror film. Nimox noticed 41-year-old Daniel Stueck standing in his window as she walked to her apartment, but when she got halfway up the stairs, he ripped the door open, chainsaw in hand, saying, “Sup n*gger?” He started up the chainsaw, began chasing her, and said, “Get off my property, n*gger!” When Nimox made it to the end of the property, Stueck quit chasing her and returned to his apartment. Not long after the incident, Stueck left, ironically returning while the police were at the complex. He was arrested and charged with a hate crime. In an interview with Lincoln police, Stueck claimed Black people had been stealing from him and that Nimox “was guilty because she was Black.” • There are two takeaways from this that we see immediately. UUK calls on leaders to improve understanding and awareness of racism among staff and students

Schools across the nation are committing to the all-important work of anti-racism. Schools with predominately white or privileged students should be no exception.
