For the sake of transparency, allow me to explain why I guzzle the nearest bottle of haterade whenever I hear the name Roland Fryer Jr. As a writer on race who relies on empirical data; as someone who once taught a course “Race as an Economic Construct”; as someone whose master’s thesis was “The Lingering Social Effects of Economic Race Policy,” I’ve often had to counter Fryer’s studies in the field of AllLivesMatterology. His life’s work is dedicated to proving that white people aren’t really as bad as black people think they are.

That has put a spotlight on the little-known world of "unconscious bias training'', which is used by many corporations, police departments and other organisations to help address racism in the workplace. The training is typically designed to get people to open up about implicit biases and stereotypes in encountering people of colour, gender or other identities.

Graco Faces Backlash For Providing Car Seats To ICE’s Detained Children A photo showcasing how ICE detained children are transported has sparked backlash, with critics calling it a “prison bus for babies.” Karnes County Residential Center is one of the nations largest family detention centers under ICE. The Texas area center landed on radar of many over the weekend after news of U.S. government’s  loss of nearly 1,500 immigrant children. The photo below was featured on  GEO Group’s website , a private prison contractor to Karnes in 2016, where they spoke highly of the revamped vehicle and how it features “standard commercial grade cushioned seating” (Graco’s car seats) and films for children to watch during transport missions. It’s also noted that Graco is a subsidiary of Newell Brands led by billionaire investor Carl Icahn. The activist investor briefly  worked as an advisor on regulatory reform issues to President Donald Trump.

Roseanne Barr Calls Former Obama Adviser Valerie Jarrett a Mix Between ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ and ‘Planet of the Apes’ Roseanne Barr  targeted former President Obama White House adviser  Valerie Jarrett  in a May 29  tweet  alleging a connection between Jarrett and the Sunni Islamist organization known as the Muslim Brotherhood. The comedian reacted to a post about Jarrett by referring to the former political adviser as if the “Muslim Brotherhood and ‘Planet of the Apes’ had a baby.” Barr received backlash for the comment and was accused of racism.

Houston police officer heard telling woman to put hands up and 'pretend like we're going to shoot you' HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A viral video involving Houston police officers is now under investigation after an officer was recorded ordering four individuals to exit a vehicle. In a video recorded by Denee Harris, an officer can be heard over the loudspeaker saying, "Hands up! Put your hands up. Over your head! Pretend like we're going to shoot you." "Why would he say that?" Harris said in the video. Another officer confiscated one of the passenger's crutches, throwing it on the ground, and an officer can be seen driving the vehicle away from the scene. Harris is heard commenting in the video, and later told Storyful News, "I was so scared. I didn't know how it was going to end."
