Travis Scott Spoke With Colin Kaepernick Before Accepting Super Bowl Performance Trav is an honorable man. Early on Tuesday (January 15) morning, it was  reported  that  Travis Scott  and  Big Boi would perform along with  Maroon 5  during the Superbowl Halftime Show. The news was speculated for some time, but it wasn't made official until now. There has been a disconnect between the hip-hop community and the NFL since Colin Kaepernick lost his job mainly based on his famous on-field protests. His kneeling made headlines and brought attention to the national conversation about police brutality. Kaepernick has raised hundreds of thousands, if not millions, for different charities around the world, but he lost his job in his stance against oppression for others. Artists such as  Rihanna  and Jay-Z reportedly turned down the chance to perform during the Superbowl Halftime Show this year, so the internet was largely unpleased when Travis Scott was announced as a performer.

Well, someone on Twitter today made the mistake of mentioning Colin Kaepernick to Salguero, and "Mando" did what Mando does best: He tweeted absurd insults at the quarterback and civil rights activist before straight-up admitting he does not "respect" Kaepernick or "agree with him" when it comes to civil rights issues. High school referee fired after asking if players had green cards An Arizona high school basketball referee has been fired after allegedly making racist comments before a game on Tuesday at Walden Grove High School in Sahuarita. The referee, whose name the Arizona Interscholastic Association would not release, reportedly asked the head coach of visiting Pueblo High School shortly before tip-off if his players had green cards. Pueblo is located in a largely Hispanic part of Tucson, and according to the most recent data from the US News & World report, 89 percent of the students at the school are Hispanic. Removing any doubt of intent, the referee reportedly knew the head coach of Pueblo, according to News 4 Tucson , and that he also worked for the Border Patrol. Fahima Adan, 20, was left with bruises and scratches on her arm following the incident, which occurred on a train from Dandenong on Saturday. Alabama AG vows to revive law protecting Confederate monuments after it’s struck down by judge The Alabama Attorney General’s Office said on Tuesday that it would fight a judge’s ban on a state law that aims to protect Confederate monuments. In an order issued Monday before midnight on Monday, Jefferson County Circuit Judge Michael Graffeo ruled that the Alabama Memorial Preservation Act has no legal authority, a c c o r d i n g t o A L . c o m . The law sought to prevent the removal of monuments that have been on public land for more than 40 years. “Just as the state could not force any particular citizen to post a pro-Confederacy sign in his or her front lawn, so too can the state not commandeer the city’s property for the state’s preferred message,” Graffeo wrote. The state had argued that the city of Birmingham broke the law when it covered the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Linn Park with plywood.
