The Tuesday morning shooting left 22-year-old Stephanie Washington hospitalized after two officers opened fire on the car she was sitting in with her boyfriend, Paul Witherspoon. Surveillance video showed a Hamden Police Department officer arrive on the scene, jump out of his car and unload a barrage of bullets on a red Honda that police said fit the description of a car involved in an armed robbery. A Yale University officer shot from the other side before sprinting away from the scene. #whytheracecardisplayed

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A packed meeting intended to address racial tensions at Las Vegas valley schools ended in more controversy on Saturday after a father accused a teacher of referring to his daughter as a slave. #whytheracecardisplayed

This study focuses on manifestations of racism and colonialism in teacher education. I build on the theoretical framing of Critical Race Theory and decolonization in order to expose racist and colonial assumptions at the core of teacher education. I highlight in particular the work of covert racism under the cloak of teachers’ professionalism. I focus on what I call ‘professional microaggressions’: subtle forms of racism and colonialism hidden beneath professional definitions. By interviewing graduates of a well-established Indigenous teacher education program in British Columbia, Canada, I examine the mechanisms that still hinder the success of Indigenous teacher candidates in teacher education and in the school system. The study highlights the resilience, resistance, and strategic planning that Indigenous teachers use to challenge the system while advancing their position within it. Lastly, I suggest ways to support Indigenous teacher candidates in teacher education.

Meanwhile.. Prosecutors have determined that the murder of Black American Citizen, Bradley Blackshire, was 100% Legal. Last month, Little Rock Officer Charles Starks was seen shooting Blackshire from the side of the car as the car is seen moving. While still shooting he is then seen repositioning his body infront of Blackshire’s vehicle while still shooting him. Officer Starks says he feared for his life. @thesavoyshow #whytheracecardisplayed
