School Cheers When Kentucky Valedictorian Gives Inspirational Trump Quote… Until He Reveals It’s Obama
The best kind of burn is the one you don’t see coming.
Kentucky high school student and valedictorian Ben Bowling made his graduation speech a memorable one by quoting a famous figure.
“This is the part of my speech where I share some inspirational quotes I found on Google,” Bowling told the audience at Bell County High School graduation. “‘Don’t just get involved. Fight for your seat at the table. Better yet, fight for a seat at the head of the table.’ – Donald J. Trump.”
The audience erupted into applause, according to the Louisville Courier Journal. 80 percent of Bell County, located in the southeastern part of Kentucky, voted for Trump in the 2016 election.
“Just kidding,” Bowling said. “That wasBarack Obama.”
And a hush fell over the crowd.
“The crowd erupted in applause and before they could even finish clapping I said I was kidding and the applause quickly died,” Bowling told Courier Journal.
“[I] “didn’t mean anything bad by it… I just thought it was a really good quote,” he said. “Most people wouldn’t like it if I used it, so I thought I’d use Donald Trump’s name. It is southeastern Kentucky after all.”
Young Bowling will be attending the University of Kentucky in Lexington and plans to become a physician.
“I’m really excited to go to college,” Bowling told Courier Journal. “There’s more freedom in college and there’s also way more places to eat in Lexington.”
