BEWARE OF THE ‘BACKLASH’
Cruise the web and it'll be hard to find one demographic claiming to be under siege. The women say there is a rape culture, unequal opportunities in the workplace and not enough representation across the board. The blacks say that the police are only out to kill them, or put them behind bars. White men claim they are vilified simply for being white men.
Each group uses history, statistics, incidents, hashtags as weapons. The hecklers grew louder and bolder. Hats, and shirts with clever slogans became objects of defiance like never before. Big apparel companies saw this then got involved. Becoming symbols of who or what side your on.
But each time a group gains a little edge, another group cries foul the complains them back to where they started. For each compromise made, a reversal of fortune occurs...the ‘backlash’.
The white man feels discriminated against. “Among whites, 19% said they've "been personally discriminated against" because of their race when applying for jobs, while 11% said it occurred when applying to or while at college. Thirteen percent of whites said they experienced discrimination when being considered for equal pay or promotion at work.” usatoday.com Oct. 25, 2017
Then came the backlash….#mgtow, mass shootings, the alt right, and proud boys.
The females want empowerment. They say there's no fair pay. That there's a ‘glass ceiling’. Marches were done. The threat level against women was upgraded to pink. Changes were made. Female characters now invade movies, television and even sports.
Remember the 'glass ceiling'? First it had been cracked, then shattered. Women now outnumber men in higher education enrollment, women are running for public office in record numbers. The lilly ledbetter act was signed for equal pay. Even the boys scouts is no longer only for boys.
Then came the backlash....the shaming, ‘toxic masculinity’. Men are going there own way, dating is down, marriage is down, childbirth is down.
The Muslims feel harassed. Their ranks are infiltrated like COINTELPRO of old. Their mosque are under surveillance. Speaking of mosque; they are now ground zero (no pun intended) for vandalism, hate violence and suspicions. To build a place of worship at this ponit is an uphill battle to say the least. Due to community ‘concerns’ and being the mosque being built too close to 'sensitive areas.
But after a while, things began to simmer down. There were less american casualties in the middle east. Tolerance was preached, education about the non violent nature of the religion was spread. A difference was realized, that Islam is a religion and a Muslim is the believer. And that only one of these can be corrupted.
Then came the backlash...The election of a counter administration. Muslims were banned...period.
The indians are encroached upon (Indians do not call themselves native Americans. Ask one). Haven't they been through enough? They protest a pipeline that's planned to run through their land. A movement began. Encampments were built. Signs are written. National attention was raised.
Then came the backlash...the election of a counter administration. Holdouts removed, pipeline ...built.
The Latinos and the Asians want immigration reform. A primary issue of theirs for a long time. Emotions surrounding the topic run strong. Because the welfare of family is the core of their fight. Grassroots movements Sprang up. Protests occurred.
Concessions were made for them. Legislation was signed healthcare and amnesty was offered. Dreamers were created. The media was on it. Activists and sympathizers for Latino rights were on every channel. Sensitive issues on the topic were addressed, and better treatment for those caught crossing the border illegally was discussed.
Then came the backlash....the election of a counter president. Legislation was reversed. A wall was promised, the dreamers awakened. Immigrants generalized as rapists, drug dealers and murderers (by said president). Deportation increased. Gun ownership on border states skyrocketed, and more ‘minutemen’ vigilante volunteers converged on the border.
The blacks want justice. But they cry loudly for it in a way that makes other demographics angry. This angry demographic is tired of history being rehashed of another hashtag created. And sick of seeing the disruptions that their protests cause. Then the kneeling began.
Things were done to appease the black. Flags were removed. Promises were made. ‘Offensive’ statues and monuments were torn down, Obama came back into the spotlight and reminded everyone of the proclamation that was made during his election. That racism is over; and we now live in a 'post racial society'. Although; I've never witnessed a neologism disappear so fast.
Then came the backlash...the election of a counter president. Hate speech, burning, counter boycotts, new rules and protocols were set up to block progress. Even the president speaking out against their cause. More ‘incidents’ occurred. Fueling the fire. Frivolous phone calls to police began. Black are even more at odds with police. Not only in the streets; but now in their own homes.
