Why do you think this is? Is the lack of a good support system to blame here? How does the support system of black women compare to the support system of women of other ethnicities? How much is this affected by the lack of support from black fathers? Do you think that if black men were encouraged to he a part of their kids lives black women would be less likely to have abortions? Many black fathers, especially young black fathers, are pretty much pushed out of their children's lives. Many black women are taught that to accept emotional support from a man is weakness and foolishness. A black father's relationship with his child is all too often unstable, contact is allowed only when and if the mother wants to allow it, which often depends on her emotional state at the time. Do you think that this broken dynamic between black men and women affects these statistics, and if so, to what degree? Do you think that a mentorship program or support group for young black fathers-to-be could help change this by teaching them how to be supportive even outside of a romantic relationship and teaching them about their rights to their children? Would this eventually help black mothers feel less alone in parenting and therefore reduce the number of abortions in the long run? Or is the abortion rate among black women caused by something else entirely?
