THE 'MAGA' KIDS
The ‘MAGA’ Kids As a adolescent i was not interested in much. Especially politics. I was worried about stuff television, music, and doing the most juvenile things i could think of. But things change. Nowadays im surprised to see many more adolescents expressing themselves in them manner of their own political views. Whether that expression is drawn on a shirt, sown on a hat, or colored on a flag. These pre-millennials are out in force. And are not ashamed to show whos side they are on politically. What caused this change that lead to such an interest in politics in adolescent teens? Feelings, over exposure in the media, the internet for sure, but most of all, their parents. We all know that a parents view have a huge impact on their children. Who else would allow them to come to school draped in a confederate flag. Or a t-shirt with hateful symbols or message. But i didn't want to make this story about the parents. I want to discuss who or what got this new wave of kids interested in politics. First. Let's mention the elephant in the room. Theyr white kids. And there are alot of them. I see them at campaign rallies, I see them on social media, on the news, in protests. Without parents. Making statements. Wearing flags, chanting, teasing their opposing side, repeating rhetoric they've obviously got from their parents or the news the night before. But they are kids. So i don't hear honest or educated opinions from them often. But i do hear a lot of compassion. Where did come from? I think they're fighting for something. Something they're losing. Something they can feel is slipping away. Something that is owed to them. Something they feel is inherently theirs. Something their parents or grandparents told about, the promised it to them. Something important even to them, even at such a young age. More important than a video game. Or the next superhero flick. Like an inheritance, heritage. These kids are loud, smart, savvy, and prepared to fight for it. But how far are these kids willing to retain what they feel as theirs? And who do young people blame for trying to take these things for them. The hitler salutes the hateful graffiti the racist youtube videos. They are everywhere. THE ‘MAGA’ KIDS Like minorities faught for rights that are owed to them. The MAGA kids fight for the same things to stay the same. Other than a catchy slogans what makes these kids go so hard for trump? They see him as a hero. A man who secure as much of the privileges of their forebears as possible. Some are just wearing MAGA caps and calling minorities directory names. Which are both automatic triggers. But to be far. Adults reactions in the other side of the isle have only made things worse. Yelling swear words at a group of teens wearing MAGA hats is not something a grown up should be doing. No Matter how much they may disagree. These MAGA teens have been physically assaulted as well. And marked as little racist for even saying that they like or support him. That's not cool. Or any way to set an example. But let's not sleep on our young people. They may very well have specific perfectly ok non racist reasons for liking trump. Sometimes teens do things just cause it's fun, or exciting. And nothing is more fun to a teenage than making adults angry. And to do so with such with mostly silent, passive aggressiveness is just too good of an opportunity to pass up. Now don't get me wrong.
