Mike Mitchell blames Eric Reid effect on safety market   The safety market fizzled this offseason, and  Mike Mitchell  believes he knows why. Mitchell, who signed with the Colts this week, intimated teams lowballed all safeties to avoid the appearance of collusion against  Eric Reid . “ You know what happened ,” Mitchell told Stephen Holder of  The Athletic . “I don’t need to say it. I know what you know.” Reid filed a  collusion grievance  against the NFL seven weeks after becoming a free agent. He  finally signed  a free agent deal Sept. 27 but got only a one-year, $1.39 million deal from the Panthers. Mitchell made $20 million from the Steelers over the past four seasons. He will get the prorated portion of the veteran minimum $915,000 the rest of this season. “If you’re working a regular job and you’re making $100,000 and then, the very next year, they want you to do the exact same work for $20,000, you’d be a little perplexed about that situation,” Mitchell sai

BLACK GIRL MAGIC?? Black Girl Magic (#BlackGirlMagic) is a concept and movement that was popularized by CaShawn Thompson in 2013. The concept was born as a way to "celebrate the beauty, power and resilience of black women", as described by Julee Wilson from HuffPost, and to congratulate black women on their accomplishments. Referring to a speech made by Michelle Obama at the Black Girls Rock Awards...yada yada yada.  But does the truth fit the billing? How are black girls really doing? What are they doing thats so magical? Do they really rock? How? Now i understand the the boast comes from a race and gender that has been trample on for centuries. With the racism and sexism and what not. Being black and a woman cant be considered a lucky draw in any society. In my opinion the tagline comes from the resilience black women have shown. And to proclaim the many advancements, and advancements they've made even through all the obstacles. I get that. But i ask mysel

George Taliaferro the first African-American player to be drafted by an NFL team, died Monday night at age 91 George Taliaferro, who in 1949 became the first African-American player to be drafted by an NFL team, died Monday night at age 91. His death was announced by the George Taliaferro Sport Association. Taliaferro, who was a three-time All-American at Indiana, was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 13th round of the 1949 draft, but he never played for the team. He had already committed to play for the Los Angeles Dons of the All-America Football Conference and played for the team during the 1949 season. Taliaferro was a Bears fan but had signed with the Dons a week before the NFL draft. #nfl #africanamerican
