Eric Reid will once again be one of the top free agent safeties in the NFL next year. The Carolina Panthers have the inside track, though, and they’re looking to lock him up before he can hit the open market.
According to a report by David Newton at ESPN, the team has reached out to Reid’s agent about re-signing.
Panthers management has reached out to the agent of safety Eric Reid about re-signing. So even with some uncertainty about next season the current management group is looking ahead to 2019.
Reid has appeared in 12 games for the Panthers and has come through with key stops almost every week.
Aside from a few early hiccups – he allowed a touchdown to Vernon Davis in the loss to Washington – Reid has played well. He has a total of 66 combined tackles (seven for a loss), one interception (should be two) and five passes defensed.
