Kansas official known for racist rants tells black citizens he’s ‘part of the master race’
A Leavenworth County official with a history of bizarre racists rants during debates at County Commission meeting has struck again.
According to a video posted by Kos Staff, Commissioner Louis Klemp brought up his thoughts on the “master race” during a comment to a black constituent.
“I don’t want you to feel like I’m picking on you, because we’re part of the master race. You know, you’ve got a gap in your teeth you’re the master race, don’t forget that,” he said.
While the comment was meant to be a joke, it seemed a little off-putting from an official known for overt racism. He and the constituent both have gaps in their teeth, so it appeared as though he was attempting to make some kind of connection with her.
The term “master race,” however, comes from Nazis seeking to create an Aryan race with blond hair and blue eyes. In the United States, the term arose from the master-slave relationship before slavery was abolished. The term was used by those looking for some scientific-sounding proof that whites were superior.
