A monument to Holocaust victims and 37 tombstones in a Jewish cemetery near Strasbourg, France, has been defaced with swastikas and other anti-Semitic graffiti in the same week that a gunman opened fire in Strasbourg’s Christmas market, killing at least four people. French officials paid their respects to the cemetery in Herrlisheim on Friday and vowed to “do everything to identify and detain the authors of the desecration.” Authorities have not said whether they have identified any suspects of the act, but say it took place Monday night or Tuesday morning.
