Purpose of Iconium Foundation: To "Teach black men skills that pay bills." PAID Vocational Training In Minority Neighborhoods. Auto Body, Plumbing, Electrical Training, Welding, Masonry & More!
Before placing clients in a class, Iconium checks clients record to see what type of work they are qualified for (Police, fire,sanitation, drivers). If eligible, support in obtaining all necessary paperwork, licensing or any important info on applying for said work will be provided.
Once all of the requirements for emploment are complete, job placement for the client within their specific field will be initiated. If a client does not already qualify for above average employment, he will be eligible for the vocational training program.
The vocational program focuses on teaching clients above average skills that will enable them to afford housing, food, childcare and pay taxes. Skill such as, Auto Body, Plumbing, Electrical Training, Welding, and Masonry training.
Placing vocational training programs INSIDE minority communities will solve a number of issues that plague communities of color today. Issues like violent crime, drugs, unemployment, housing, as well as family structure. These issues are systematic in minority communities because of the lack of education, direction, employment opportunities, and lack of interest in low paying jobs.
Trades like automotive, electrical, plumbing, and welding are skills very much still in demand and can be found needed in any town.
These skills that pay well enough to allow men to afford housing and enable them to provide for himself. Aswell as provide for a family if they choose to have one.
A concentrated housing area filled with people who have above average earning power is no longer the projects but has transformed into a suburb. A new middle class.
This work is for the present but more importantly for the future. Living on a middle class income, participants will be able to afford for their children to go to college. And improve the quality of life for the next generation of african americans.
We will get them a licence. Get them their state IDs, their Birth Cetificates, we will provide their training. Asses their mental health.
For participants enrolled in the program, income, housing and food will be proved by Iconium. So that they may then be able to provide these things for their children. So that the participents children can begin a new cycle of progression.
